Cappellini we love

I could write about Cappellini everyday and still haven’t covered it all… the divine Proust Armchair made its appearance on this blog a while ago but I thought to put together more images and just few words to show more of their stunning pieces. Could be of help when decorating your next home?

Both presented at the latest International Salone del Mobile, these two are at the top of my wish list!
On the left:  the Secret Clubhouse is the first project of young Swedish designer, Martin Vallin. Entirely built with recycled wood, this lovely outdoor chair is a little place to nestle and find your own secluded space in the noisy  outdoor.
On the right: Tulip Armchair, designed by Marcel Wanders. Different colours and fabrics to create your perfect tulip, a chair that I easily see in my bedroom… not sure why, but I like the idea to relax on it while reading a good book with a hot chocolate in my hand. It must be because it’s so cold here but I could have hot chocolate pretty much everyday!

Above Embryo designed by Australian Marc Newson back in 1988 and below Tom Dixon’s chaise longue, Bird.

And yes, I love red armchairs…

Positive Thinking

Do you believe in positive thinking? Do you believe that when you deeply want something, or need something, you can get it?

At the end of last year, I made a list of little things I wished to happen during this year: new job, new home, new challenges… it’s only half way but so far I have a shiny new visa on my passport, a great new job and I went to Italy even for just few days… not really the way I wanted, however being back and having the chance to spend some time with family and friends is truly priceless.

So here’s my wish for next year, and I need to start early because it is a big one: spend some time in Italy during Salone del Mobile, go everywhere I can and report my discoveries on this little blog. It will be Salone’s 50th year and my 30th birthday… it makes sense and there is no better way to celebrate!

What do you think? Can we dream together? Keep you posted!

T2 Time

t2.jpg

Since my arrival in Australia, T2 has always been one of my favourite places. To explain a little to those who’ve never heard of T2 before, this intriguing company is committed to gently convert every tea lover to a new and wonderful taste experience. They aim to create a range that delivers a bombardment of subtle, unexpected flavours and aromas, creating a spirit of peace and serenity. The range includes exotic teas that look just as beautiful and sophisticated as they taste.

There are more than 180 varieties of tea to taste and choose from, and the one I really like is Orange Pekoe, a full-leaf Sri Lankan tea with hints of of sugar cane and sweet sultanas and a light touch of tannins providing a clean, brisk finish. It is absolutely fantastic to complement Thai meals, particularly if you serve it super cold with just one table spoon of condensed milk. It adds that little sweetness but makes it very refreshing and I assure you, you will have troubles stop drinking!

You can buy T2 in one of their beautiful shops or online. Go crazy Tea!

Colour Inspiration: Rainbow

Style: "Porcelain vivid"

Besides being one of my favourite Colour Inspiration so far, this one is also a stunning bedlinen set by Aura. Oh, you see… my addiction to bedlinen is back!

If the name Aura sounds familiar is because in one of my first post on this blog I was raving about Sienna… I still haven’t managed to paint my bedroom’s wall black (my landlord would probably have something to say about it) but Sienna remain my first love. To know more about this Australian, Melbourne based successful company, read Tracie Ellis inspiring interview on Design Files… she is a very talented business woman and she is the creative mind behind these addictive and stunning sets. Can’t wait to see the Spring Summer Collection!

Armadillo & Co.

armadillo1.jpg

I was coming home from work this afternoon, checking my emails on my super special phone (yes, I love my phone!) and I saw an unusual new follower on Twitter. So I had a look at the user and what I discover is simply fantastic: remember Bholu? We wrote about it couple of weeks ago, they individually hand embroidered or handwoven very unique products using ancient techniques while benefiting Indian local communities along the way.

Well, not only Bholu follows me on Twitter but also Armadillo&Co… which I discevered soon enough being another creature of the incredible Jodie Fried, who founded this company together with  Sally Pottharst to produces the most exquisite rug collections. Earthly, true and simply perfect for every room setting you may have.

Each piece is crafted from sustainable natural fibers including pure wool, jute, cotton and hemp; they are meticulously made by hand and produced to the highest ethical standards. There is a great shop online, I am just not sure about delivery worldwide, will keep you posted on this.

I know it may sounds silly but I feel incredibly honoured that both Bholu and Armadillo are following Lilac&Yellow on twitter… someone is reading, isn’t this amazing?! Love you all my few fellow readers, stay tuned for more and exciting news coming soon!
